Phosphorus is another nutrient that guinea pigs need but too much of it can cause health problems. High phosphorus levels can lead to kidney disease which is a serious condition in guinea pigs.

3. Nuts Can Cause Gastrointestinal Problems

Nuts are also high in fiber which can cause gastrointestinal problems in guinea pigs. Fiber is essential for guinea pigs but they need it in small amounts. Too much fiber can lead to gas bloating and diarrhea.

4. Nuts Can Be A Choking Hazard

Another danger to consider is that nuts including almonds can be a choking hazard. Nuts are small and hard which can make them difficult to chew and swallow. If your guinea pig does manage to eat a nut it could get stuck in its throat and cause them to choke.
