As guinea pigs age it’s not uncommon for them to start turning grey.
This is usually due to a loss of pigment in their fur and it’s nothing to worry about.
If your guinea pig is starting to turn grey there’s no need to take them to the vet – they’re just getting old!
There are a few things you can do to make sure your aging guinea pig stays healthy and happy though.
Firstly make sure they’re getting plenty of exercises – a runaround in their enclosure or a play session outside of it will help keep them fit and active.
Secondly give them a healthy diet packed with fresh vegetables and fruits to ensure they’re getting all the nutrients they need.
Finally provide them with a comfy place to rest and sleep as older guinea pigs often need more time to recuperate.
With a little love and care your grey guinea pig will enjoy a long and happy life.
