There are more than 7000 species of snakes in the world and about 150 of them are found in the United States. Of those only a handful are considered dangerous to humans. The majority of snakes are nonvenomous and pose no threat to us whatsoever.

The first snake players encounter is the anaconda. This giant snake is found in the rainforests of South America and can grow to be more than 30 feet long. In the game the anaconda is a helpful creature providing guidance to the player as they navigate through the jungle.
Next up is the cobra. This venomous snake is found in Africa Asia and Australia. Cobras can grow to be more than 10 feet long and their venom is deadly to humans. In Metal Gear cobras are used as guard dogs by the enemy attacking anyone who comes near their territory.
The third snake players will encounter is the viper. Vipers are found in Europe Africa and Asia and can grow to be more than 6 feet long. These snakes are highly venomous and their bites can be fatal to humans. In the game vipers are used as weapons by the enemy and can be found guarding key areas.
The fourth snake players will encounter is the boa constrictor. This large snake is found in South America and can grow to be more than 20 feet long. Boa constrictors are not venomous but they can kill their prey by squeezing the life out of them. In Metal Gear boa constrictors are used as transportation carrying the player through the jungle.
The fifth and final snake players will encounter is the mamba. Mambas are found in Africa and can grow to be more than 12 feet long. These snakes are highly venomous and their bites can be fatal to humans. In Metal Gear mambas are used as weapons by the enemy and can be found guarding key areas.

While this may not seem like a lot it is important to remember that these are just the snakes that players will encounter.
