When it comes to baby snakes one of the first things people want to know is how small they are when they are born. And while there is some variation among different species of snakes most of them are born at a pretty small size.
For example the average length of a newborn garter snake is just 7.5 to 10 centimeters. But they can grow quite quickly reaching an adult size of anywhere from 30 to 90 centimeters within a year or two.
Other common snakes such as corn snakes and milk snakes are born at a slightly larger size than garter snakes. On average corn snakes are born at a length of 20 to 25 centimeters while milk snakes are born at a length of 25 to 30 centimeters.
Of course there are always exceptions to the rule. Some snakes like the king cobra are born at a length of up to 1 meter. And the smallest snake in the world the thread snake is born at a length of just 2.5 centimeters.
So how small are baby snakes when they are born? It depends on the species but most of them are pretty small. But don’t worry they grow quickly!
