It’s a common fear: you’re out in the wilderness minding your own business when all of a sudden a snake appears and starts chasing you.
But is this actually something that happens? Do snakes really chase people?
The answer it turns out is a little complicated.
While it is true that some snakes will chase people it’s generally not because they’re looking for a meal.
Instead it’s usually because they’re feeling threatened and are trying to protect themselves.
That said there are some exceptions to this rule.
Some snakes like the cobra will chase people because they’re aggressive by nature.
And while it’s unlikely that you’ll be pursued by a snake in the wild it’s not impossible.
So what should you do if you find yourself being chased by a snake? The best thing to do is to stay calm and try to keep your distance.
If you can try to put something between you and the snake like a tree or a rock.
And whatever you do don’t try to run away.
Snakes are faster than you might think and you’re unlikely to outrun them.
So there you have it: snakes can chase people but it’s not usually because they’re looking for a meal.
If you find yourself being pursued by a snake the best thing to do is to stay calm and try to keep your distance.
